Jeffrey Bertan McMahon, better known by his stage name Jeff Cohen, was born on June 25, 1974, in Los Angeles, California. He adopted the surname Cohen from his mother’s maiden name, Elaine Cohen. Jeff has one sister, Eydie Faye, who is also active in the entertainment industry as an actress and playwright. Both his mother and sister appeared in the television series Clean Sweep.
Cohen rose to fame for his portrayal of Chunk in the iconic 1985 film The Goonies. During the filming of the movie, Cohen came down with chickenpox but chose to stay on set out of fear of being replaced. His dedication is evident in the well-known "Truffle Shuffle" scene, where chickenpox marks are faintly visible on his chest.
