Jeff Foxworthy

Jeff Foxworthy was born on September 6, 1958, in Atlanta, Georgia and is currently at the age of 57. He is a well known and successful comedian. He holds the record of selling the largest number of comedy-recording till date. He has won many accolades for his wonderful work and has been nominated for Grammy Award many times. He is the prideful owner of 11 bestselling books and has been famous for his redneck jokes.

Early Life

Jeff’s father was Jimmy Abstance Foxworthy who was an IBM executive while the name of his mother was Carole Linda (Camp) Foxworthy. He was the first child of the couple and both his parents were of English origin. He spent his childhood in old Southern Baptist tradition and at a young age of seven he wanted to accept Jesus Christ. Although his mother wanted him to gain much more wisdom and maturity before doing so, he remains adamant and the same night he went to the church along with his mother.

Education and stint with IBM

Jeff attended Hapeville High School and after that attended Georgia Tech located in Atlanta. However just before he was about to graduate he left the college in between. After that, he started working for IBM in mainframe computer maintenance where his father was also working. He remained with IBM for long 5 years. He was a jolly natured guy and used to crack jokes everywhere. His IBM co-workers got influenced by this quality of his and urged him to participate in the Great Southeastern Laugh Off which was held at Atlanta’s Punchline Comedy Club. He participated in it and won the challenge in the year 1984. This was the start of his career as a comedian.

Career

He started his new career of a comedian in the year 1984 when he started acting for comedy roles on television and gained the love of the audience. In the year 1990, he was announced the winner for the Best Stand-Up Comic at the American Comedy Award. After this, he gained immense popularity and released You Might Be a Redneck if, in the year 1993, it became a huge hit and more than three million copies of this comedy album were sold. In the year 1995, he released another comedy album called Games Rednecks Play which was nominated for Grammy under the category of Best Spoken Comedy Album in the year 1996.

He also started his own show called The Jeff Foxworthy Show in the year 1995. He has also been hosting a number of famous shows on television. He was the host for Are You Smarten than a 5th Grader which was aired on Fox during prime time. He also hosted its syndicated version which was later on canceled on March 24, 2011. There has been an announcement that Jeff would return as the host for the show Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader. He has invested his money as a potential investor in the two seasons of Shark Tank. He has also lent his voice for many animated movies like Racing Stripes, The Smurfs, The Smurfs 2 and much more. He conducts many tours in which he performs in front of the live audience but the most famous tour of his was Blue Collar Comedy.

He is a married man and got into this sacred bond with his wife Pamela Greg on September 18, 1985. He has two children both daughter named Jordan and Julianne.
