Jeremy Kyle was born in Reading, Berkshire on July 7, 1965. He studied History and Sociology at the University of Surrey in Guildford. Although initially employed as a life insurance salesman and radio advertising salesmen from 1986 to 1995, he became a radio producer in 1996. He achieved success with various shows over the next ten years including Jezza's Confessions, Late & Live, Capital Confessions, and The Jeremy Kyle Show. He moved The Jeremy Kyle Show to television in 2005 with received criticism for some of its contents and delivery, including a February 2008 court case. Jeremy Kyle was first married in the early 1990s, but was divorced some time later. During this time he became addicted to gambling and incurred nearly £12,000 in debt.
He is since recovering, and he announced his engagement to his new girlfriend in February of 2018. Jeremy was diagnosed with testicular cancer in late 2012, was treated with chemotherapy and ultimately a removed testicle, and is now in remission. In his 2009 book, I'm Only Being Honest, he discusses his obsessive-compulsive disorder and also his opinion of Britain's social problems and his proposed solutions. He also currently writes a column titled Jeremy Kyle Says in Pick Me Up, a woman's weekly magazine.
