Jerry Springer

Jerry Springer is an American TV personality, anchor, musician and an actor as well as a former Democratic mayor of Ohio State. He is known to have been hosting “The Jerry Springer Show“ since 1991, and also started the “Jerry Springer Podcast” in 2015.  He was born on the 13th of February 1944, in the East Finchley Station of London, England. He was born to Jewish parents who took refuge in England from Germany and ran a shop.

His father was Richard Springer and his mother was Margot Kallman, used to work in a bank before fleeing into England. His parents took shelter from the bombings in the East Finley Station, and in 1949 his parents moved to settle in Kew Gardens, Queens, New York, USA. English by birth, he attended the Forest Hills High School, along with his sister Evelyn. They lived in a small apartment as their parents found hard to get a decent job. Jerry remembers one of his childhood memories while he was impressed after hearing the speech of John F. Kennedy on TV. He is an American citizen by nationality, and a Jew by practice.

After graduating high school, he attended Tulane University in 1961, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in political science in 1965. Then he got enrolled at the Northwestern University and graduated in 1968 with a Juris Doctor degree. He got a chance to work in the then political campaign, and became close to Robert F. Kennedy, working as his adviser. In the 1970s, he joined the Congress but couldn’t get any seats for the election. Later in 1971, he was nominated for the city council of Cincinnati and after a dispute of him hiring a prostitute from Kentucky massage parlor, he resigned from the post in 1974. With political pundits confirming his political career to have been dead, he came back and won his seat back in 1975, with more than 60 percent votes in his favor. A year later, he got the chance to work as the City’s mayor which he did quiet brilliantly.

Apart from politics, he also had a prominent career in journalism, starting with a radio host for the local WEBN-FM in Cincinnati, while he was a mayor of the place. He also worked for NBC briefly, mainly as a political reporter after which he was appointed as the Managing Editor. Being one of the best news anchor of his place, he went on to grab 10 Emmy Awards. Similarly, he hosted other TV shows like America's Got Talent, Miss World 2000, Miss Universe 2008, Investigation Discovery (2014) and some others. Apart from the USA< he also hosted a couple of TV shows in the UK, starting with “This Morning"” in 1999. The same year, he started the “Jerry Springer on Sunday”, and also hosted the The Wright Stuff.

His career as an actor began in 1996, when he was casted in a TV series named “Roseanne”, and also lend his voice in The Simpsons’s Halloween episode. His role in 2004 as the president of USA in "The Defender" was followed by his cameo appearance in Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.
