Jessalyn Gilsig 

Born on November 20, 1971, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Jessalyn Sarah Gilsig is a Canadian actress known for her work in television and film. She is the daughter of Toby Gilsig, an engineer, and Claire Gilsig, a writer and translator. Raised in a Jewish household on her father's side, she spent most of her childhood in Montreal.

Education and Early Interest in Acting

Gilsig attended the all-girls Trafalgar School for Girls in Montreal before enrolling at McGill University in 1989. She graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor’s degree in English. Her passion for acting began at a young age, leading her to pursue formal training in the field. She later studied at Harvard University's Institute for Advanced Theater Training.

At just 12 years old, Gilsig began her acting career by providing voice work for the National Film Board of Canada. Her early voice credits include titles such as The Journey Home and Masquerade, as well as animated television series like Young Robin and The Little Flying Bears.

Transition to New York and Theater Work

Two years after graduating from McGill, Gilsig relocated to New York City to further develop her acting career. She became active in the theater scene, performing in numerous stage productions including The Tempest, The Oresteia, The Cherry Orchard, and Henry V.
