First it was a broken finger and then a recurring injury in the groin that prevented him from playing a number of games. Despite this, in 2014-2015, the Red Wings extended his contract to six years for $31.5Million dollar. But, his injuries never gave up on him and he continued missing games. He was named to an NHL All-Star game but couldn’t play because of his groin injury. His performance further declined in 2015-16 season, but very recently in April 2016, he recorded his 22nd shutout victory in franchise history, playing against the Philadelphia Flyers.
