Russell Howard

Russell Howard is known as an English comedian, television presenter, radio presenter and actor. He is most famous for his TV shows Russell Howard's Good News and The Russell Howard Hour. He is also known for his appearances on the topical panel TV show called Mock the Week.

Russell Howard was born on March 23, 1980 in Bristol, England as Russell Joseph Howard. His sister is actress Kerry Howard. His family created an environment that allowed the children to express themselves with creativity.

He attended the Perins School in Alresford, Hampshire. He then went Alton College in Alton, Hampshire for his secondary education.

Entertainment Career

Russell was a finalist in the So You Think You're Funny Competition at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 1999. It was a similar competition to Last Comic Standing which takes place in the United States. Russell did not have to face stiff competition because there are less comedian in England.

In 2001, he was a finalist for the BBC New Comedy Award. Russell often uses his comedy as a platform to raise awareness about important sociocultural issues such as self-harm, sexism, and homelessness. He is considered to be a social commentary comedian because of his bits and premises.
