Jonathan Daniel Hamm was born on March 10, 1971 in St. Louis, Missouri. He grew up with two half sisters because his father, Dan, had two daughters from a previous marriage. Jon’s family owned a successful trucking company for generations in St. Louis but the business declined as Jon was growing up. Things continued to get worse as his parents got divorced when he was just a baby.
He found an escape from his difficult home life at John Burroughs Preparatory School. It was there that he would start to gain confidence because he was so good at sports.
