Julia Ormond was born in the Epsom, in Surrey and she is the daughter of Josephine who worked as the laboratory technician and of John Ormond who works as the computer software designer. She is the advocate for raising awareness on AIDS in Ukraine and Russia. She is the co-chairman of Filmaid International. In 2005, she was appointed to be a United Nations Goodwill Ambassador.
