Personal life

Burruss was born in Georgia to Reverend Burruss Jr. and Joyce. She had an older brother who died in an accident in an early age. She graduated in 1994 and started her career, at the age of 15. Before getting engaged with her current husband, she had a daughter with her ex-boyfriend, Russell Block Spencer in 2002. In 2008, she had a relationship with A J Jewell and after dating for several months, she got engaged in early 2009. Unfortunately, even before the planning her wedding, he died due to head injuries, in late 2009. In 2013, Burruss announced her engagement with Todd Tucker, through social media sights. He was a former line producer of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She had been dating him, since 2011. She got married in 2014 and announced her pregnancy in 2015. She has a son with Todd. Today, she lives with Todd and their son, her daughter and his daughter in Atlanta.

Years later, she announced that it was not easy for them to get pregnant and after several struggles, they turned to IVF. She mentioned that the process was long and had lot of needles. Two years after her marriage, she finally revealed how she met Todd. She released a set of pictures from her trip to Africa in Instagram and she stated that, that trip was where she got acquainted with Todd.

Career

Her career biography has a lot of turning pages before Kandi Koated and the reality TV shows. She got disbanded from Xscape in 1999 and teamed up with Cottle and gave ‘No Scrubs’ for TLC which became an international hit. In the same year, she wrote many successful songs like Bills, Bills, Bills, There you Go and many others.

Her skills took her to win the Songwriter award of 2000 provided by American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. She is the proud first African American to receive this award. This award was presented on behalf of No Scrubs and Bills, Bills, Bills.

Later, she teamed up with a lot of personalities and gave out many interesting songs. She started starring in The Real Housewives of Atlanta’s second season, from 2009. She announced her second Album, Fly above EP in 2009 and in late 2009, she announced that her deal was cancelled. Later, in late 2010, she released her second Album: Kandi Koated.

She also made cameo appearances in many series like Thicker than water, Single ladies, Let’s stay together and many others including spin-off series like Kandi Factory, Kandi’s Wedding and others. She owns a sex toy company called Bedroom Kandi.

Burruss is an inspiration for every woman in the world who wants to juggle success, work and life. She took her career to Grammy award and in the same time struggled with family related problems like pregnancy problems, IVF and others. Throughout her career, she always had a positive approach towards every turn of events.
