McKinnon was brought up in Sea Cliff, New York. She is the little girl of Laura Campbell, a guardian instructor, and Michael Thomas Berthold, a designer.

Education:

As a youngster, McKinnon played the piano, cello, and guitar. She moved on from North Shore High School in 2002 and from Columbia University in 2006, where she helped to establish a drama bunch, Tea Party, which concentrated on performing comedy act with music.

She will be seen in the upcoming movie reboot of Ghostbusters in the year 2016.
