She continued her higher education at De Montfort University in Leicester, where she focused on media studies. After completing her degree, she returned to Grimsby to enroll in a post-graduate Skillset Diploma in broadcast journalism at the Grimsby Institute of Further & Higher Education, in partnership with East Coast Media.

Career in Journalism and Weather Broadcasting

Keeley began her career in broadcasting at the age of 14, presenting for Channel 7 Television (now Estuary TV), a local cable channel based in Immingham. During her academic years, she freelanced for the BBC, working with BBC Yorkshire and Lincolnshire in 2005. In 2006, she joined the now-defunct Propeller TV, a local television network.

She further specialized in broadcast meteorology through training with the Met Office and the BBC Weather Centre. This training laid the foundation for her future in weather broadcasting. Keeley went on to present weather forecasts on various BBC regional services. She was responsible for delivering weather updates for BBC regional television and radio stations in Yorkshire and the North Midlands, East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, as well as the North East and Cumbria regions.

In addition to her weather reports, Keeley worked as a reporter for the BBC's regional current affairs program Inside Out. She also occasionally served as a newsreader for the Leeds edition of BBC Look North. In September 2015, she co-presented the daytime factual program Break-in Britain, a BBC Cymru Wales production.
