Keith Chegwin was born January 17, 1957 in Walton, Liverpool, England. Chegwin appeared in several children's television shows in the 1970s and 1980s including Multi-Coloured Swap Shop and Cheggers Plays Pop. He also released several singles including "I Wanna Be a Winner", worked as a DJ, and hosted a BBC Radio 1 weekend morning show. He dealt with alcoholism in the late 1980s and 1990s that caused a dip in his career. He published an autobiographical book titled Shaken But Not Stirred in 1995. In 2000 he appeared on a nudist game show titled Naked Jungle. He was scheduled to compete on Dancing on Ice in 2012 but broke three ribs and fractured his shoulder on the first day of training and was forced to withdraw from the competition. In 2015 he appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and finished in fourth place. Chegwin was married twice. His first marriage was to presenter Maggie Philbin from 1982 to 1993. They had one daughter together named Rose. Sometime later he married Maria Anne Fielden and they had one son together named Ted. The family lived in Shropshire in order to be closer to family. Chegwin died of the lung disease idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis on December 11, 2017 at age 60.
