Larisa Oleynik was born in California, in the county of Santa Clara, her mother is Lorraine and was working as a nurse and her father was Roman Oleynik who died in 2003. He was working as anesthesiologist. Her father had Slovak, Czech, Russian and Ukrainian ancestry.  She was raised in the religion of Christian Orthodox.  Oleynik grew up in the city of San Francisco Bay Area. She went to Pinewood School in the Los Altos of California. As she started to be famous because of her acting, she was dividing his time in the auditions taking place in Los Angeles while living his childhood in Northern California.  After playing successfully Alex Mack, she decided to attend a college and choose to go to Sarah Lawrence College and she said that it was the best decision she ever made.

Larisa Oleynik’s biography, says that she started her acting in Les Miserables when she saw an audition ad in the newspaper and auditioned when she was still eight years old. She got the roles of Young Eponine and Young Cossette. The two roles requested her to sing. After being in the musical, she got an agent and started to take the acting lessons.
