Lawrence “Larry” Ellison is known as an American businessman, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. He is most famous for being a co-founder, executive chairman and the chief technology officer of Oracle Corporation.

Lawrence Joseph Ellison was born on August 17, 1944 in New York City, New York. Larry was born to a single mother in the metropolis of New York City. He was brought down with pneumonia at just nine months of age. His mother could not handle taking care of a sick baby so he was given to his great-aunt and uncle for adoption. Sadly for Larry, he wouldn't see his biological mother again for almost five decades after she gave him up.

Career

In 1977, Ellison co-founded his first company and called it Software Development Laboratories. His initial investment in the company was $1200. Larry teamed up with his partners to win a two-year contract to build a database for a branch of government known was the CIA. They called the special project, "Oracle." Larry’s company changed their name to Relational Software Inc. in 1979. Three years later, they official became Oracle Systems Corporation.

Larry is currently the 5th richest person on the planet, with an amazing net worth of $54.3 billion dollars.
