International Debut and Test Career

Wood was named in England’s Test squad for the 2015 tours of the West Indies and Ireland, although he did not play in those series. He made his official international debut in an ODI against Ireland on 8 May 2015. The match was cut short due to rain, but he managed to claim one wicket.

Later that year, he made his Test debut against New Zealand. In the first Test, Wood claimed four wickets, contributing to England's 1-0 lead. Despite a loss in the second Test, where he secured five wickets and scored 19 valuable runs, England won the series 2-1. Wood also made his T20 International debut during the same tour, taking three wickets for 26 runs in a victory over New Zealand.

Participation in the 2015 Ashes

Wood featured in the 2015 Ashes series against Australia, playing four matches and claiming ten wickets. Although he was sidelined for the third Test due to injury, his consistent pace and control were instrumental in England's 3-2 series victory. He was also selected for the ODI series following the Ashes, but was omitted after two performances deemed below par.

Injuries and Comeback

Toward the end of 2015, Wood played in two Tests against Pakistan and secured six wickets. However, an ankle injury kept him out of England’s tour to Sri Lanka and initial matches in the return series against Pakistan. He returned to the side for the 2016 ODI series against Pakistan, playing four out of five games and taking seven wickets. England went on to win the series 4-1, with Wood playing a supporting role in the bowling lineup.
