Career

After becoming a graduate from his Alma Matter Matt Long moved to the city of New York and did a lot of theater work in various plays produced by different directors. But the theater was not enough since the actor strived to become an actor on the big screen. Movies and TV shows  was what he wanted to work in and his dreams became a reality thanks to the hard work and dedication. His first appearance as an actor in the film was in 2001. He had a minor role as Private Smith in a movie titled The Greatest Adventure of My Life. Matt said that this was not much but still enough to start his career. He was in another TV movie in 2006 called Deceit where he was playing Dave Ford. One of his more memorable work was in Mark Steven Johnson's Ghost Rider which was a Box Office success making almost 230 million dollars worldwide. Matt Long was playing young Johny Blaze, a character that was based on a Marvel comic. The actor worked alongside Nicolas Cage and Eva Mendes. In 2007, he was part of a cast of the movie Sydney White, a teen romance comedy directed by Joe Nussbaum. The 35-year old played one of the main characters – Tyler Prince. His last appearance in the movie was in 2009. Morgan J. Freeman directed a thriller he called Homecoming and with its low budget the movie was a rather successful one money-wise. Matt Long played one of the main characters Mike Donaldson. Since Homecoming Matt did not appear in any movie and there is no information regarding his next appearance on the big screen.

The actor also had done some work on television. He was a series regular of Jack & Bobby, a television series which was on The WB network. He was also in The Deep End and The Newsroom as well as Lucky Seven. He had a recurring role in Mad Men as Joey Baird and this was one of the more memorable work of his television career. Most recently actor was starring in Helix, a sci-fi horror thriller that aired on Syfy channel. Unfortunately, the show was canceled after being on air for two years.

Awards and nominations

The actor was nominated Prism Award in 2006 for his performance in Jack & Bobby. He was also nominated for Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2011 as part of an ensemble in drama series.

Personal life and trivia

The actor got married to Lora Chaffins in 2005 after the couple met together while studying at the same university. Long claims that he wants to someday work with Clint Eastwood and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Even though the actor did not have significant roles he is still only 35 and most great actors only start their career at this age. It would not surprise anyone if in the future Matt Long became one of the most recognizable actors.
