Megan was born in March 14 1968 in Dyer Indiana, just 35 miles southeast of Chicago. She studied at Texas Christian University and Indiana University majoring in atmospheric sciences and journalism. She was a NFI cheerleader for the Indianapolis Colts for a few months since 2002 before her first job. She was also a professional model back in her high school and college days. She has been dancing since the age of six. Her debut as a weather forecaster began in 2002 when she worked at the Parkersburg, West Virginia. Within a few years, she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she worked for the Sinclair broadcast group. There she forecasted for up to five cities in a single night. In the September of 2004, she moved to South Florida and was the local 10 morning news meteorologist and host for the SportsJam live TV. She dealt with many active hurricanes during her time including Hurricane Katrina, Hurricane Rita, Hurricane Wilma and many more.

She also was the fill in host in Good Morning America several times. On May 2008, she joined WBS- TV as the weekend morning weather forecaster and an entertainment reporter in the weekdays. On August 2010, she was hired by Chicago CBS O&O WBBM- TV as the meteorologist in its early morning news program. She received the AMS (American Meteorological Society) Seal in 2006 and she is also a member of the National Weather Association.

She is married to Lance Bruggeman in 2003, but her husband is not much of a media person. Very few details about her past affairs are known. Her family currently resides in St. John, Indiana, just 45 miles southeast of Chicago, Illinois. Her first daughter, Lana was born on February 11, 2010. In June 2012, she had twins: a son Leo and a daughter Willow.
