Early life and education

Melissa is the first child of Paula and William Hart. Her mother was a talent manager as well as a producer and her father was a carpenter, clam hatchery worker as well as an entrepreneur. Apart from Melissa, her parents had four more children named Emily, Elizabeth, Brian and Trisha. Interestingly enough all of them are really into acting. When her parents got divorced in the 1990s she relocated with her siblings and her mother to New York City. Both of her parents remarried.

Another interesting thing about Hart is that her name was given after a song of the Allman Brothers, called “Melissa” and her middle name was her maternal grandmother’s one. However, her confirmation name is Catherine but she isn’t really using it. She has two other sisters – Alexandra and Samantha and they are also acting. It’s safe to say that all of her brothers and sisters are really into the acting business.

Professional career

Her career took off when she was incredibly young. Only at the age of four years old she recorded a television commercial for a doll named Splashy. She was an aspiring little child and she constantly appeared in a variety of different commercials. She managed to get 25 of them done before she turned five years old. She also had other roles including a small impersonation in the miniseries called Kan & Abel back in 1985. She was also a guest-star in one episode of The Equalizer in 1986.

However, she is most famous for her title roles in some hit TV series such as Clarrisa Explains it All which aired for three years between 1991 and 1994. She also starred on Sabrina, the Teenage Witch for 7 years from 1996 all the way to 2003. Another popular show where she had the main role was Melissa & Joey from 2010 to 2015.

Personal life

Melissa’s husband is Mark Wilkerson who is an aspiring musician. They had their wedding ceremony in Florence. They have three sons. Interestingly enough she competed in the TV show Dancing with the Stars in 2009 where she danced with Mark Ballas. Melissa also has an extremely popular twitter account where she shares an abundance of her personal and professional life. She is also expressing increasing interest in politics and she has shown sympathy to the Republican Party. She is also a business woman who owns a couple of ventures such as a candy shop in Sherman Oaks.
