Background

Mia Wasikowska was born on October 25, 1989 in Canberra, Australia. She was born and raised in her country's capital city, Canberra. She is the daughter of talented photographers Marzena Wasikowska and John Reid. Her mother is of Polish descent and her father is an Australian of British ancestry. Mia has an older sister, Jess, and also a younger brother named Kai. When Mia was just eight years old, her family moved to Poland for a year to explore her mom’s home country.

Career

Mia made her on screen acting debut on the Australian television drama All Saints in 2004. She then followed that by appearing in her feature film debut when she starred in Suburban Mayhem. She was just 15 when she landed the role of Lilya in the film. One of her biggest roles came when she was cast as Alice in Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. Even though fans of the movie were disappointed because they didn’t think that it paid respects to the original content, Mia was happy to star as the iconic character.
