Michael Horton is the J. Gresham Machen Professor of Theology and Apologetics at Westminster Seminary California and the President and host of the radio broadcast "The White Horse Inn". His birth name is Michael Scott Horton and he was born on May 11, 1964. Horton was raised in an Arminian Baptist church but while in high school high adopted Calvinistic beliefs as he read through the book of Romans. He went on to attend the Philadelphia Conference on Reformed Theology and then to Biola University where graduated with a B.A. degree. While in college, Horton learned Biblical Hebrew and Koine Greek and was impressed by theologists such as Kline, Robert Strimple, and Dennis Johnson. Horton obtained his Ph.D. from Wycliffe Hall, Oxford through Convetry University before going on to Yale Divinity School to complete his Research Fellowship.
He became a deacon when he was ordained in the Reformed Episcopal Church and went on to become the president of Christians United for Reformation for four years, which later became known as the Alliance of Confessing Evangelicals. Horton became the Associate Pastor at Christ United Reformed Church in Santee, California where he taught Sunday school class on God, Reformed Theology, and the Heidelberg Catechism. He was included in a list of "UP & Comers: Fifty evangelical leaders 40 and under" in the magazine "Christianity Today" in 1996. Horton currently lives in with his wife Lisa and four children in Escondido, California
