Michael Morse

Michael John Morse was born on March 22, 1982 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Morse lived in Jamaica with his grandparents until the age of six before moving back to Florida. Morse was raised by a single mother.

Career in baseball

Morse enrolled at  Nova High School located in Florida where he was the quarterback for the school’s football team. His brother is an American football player. Morse was recruited by the Chicago White Sox in the third round of 2000 league draft. Morse, as a minor leaguer, usually filled in at third base. Morse was selected by the Seattle Marines in  2004. He made his major league debut  on May 31, 2005. Morse used Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDs) in 2005 and was suspended from the league for ten days. He has spoken freely about the use of Performance Enhancing Drugs. On July 6, 2006 Morse underwent surgery to repair a torn knee ligiment.

In June of 2006, Morse was traded to the Washington Nationals by the Seattle Marines. He had a good run with the Washington Nationals. Towering at 1.96m of height, Morse was in the top ten persons to pin their names on all the three categories of baseball. He had average over .300, 95 RBIs and 31 home runs. He also ranked fourth in  slugging percentage. Gibby Award was awarded to Michael Morse based on his performance. In 2008, Michael Morse had an excellent batting average in the major league.

Another stint with the Marines

On January 16, 2013, Michael Morse was once again traded back to the Seattle Marines. Morse created a record by hitting nine home runs in his first 30 games in which he was the first Mariner to achieve the feat after Mike Cameron who created the record in 2002.

Morse was traded to the Baltimore Orioles by the Seattle Marines on August 30th 2013. In the 12 games for Baltimore, he batted at 3 for 29. Morse had a surgery on his wrist on October 16th 2013.

In 2014, Morse signed a one year contract with the San Francisco Giants for $6 million. He has salary of $7 million per year. He played at first base due to the departure of Brandon Belt because of the thumb injury. In the month of September Morse was injured and had to be out of the league for a month. In the world series of 2014 Giants crushed Kansas city royals in the seven games to provide Morse his first world series ring in a career that spanned more than a decade.

In the year 2015, Morse was acquired by the Miami Marlins with a contract of $16 million. He started as the first baseman for the Marlins, but struggled later. Los Angeles Dodgers aquired Morse on July 30th 2015, but later traded him to Pittsburgh Pirates. He has an estimated net worth of $10 million.

Personal life

Michael Morse married Jessica Etably on November 17th at the Church of the Little Flowers, which is situated in Coral Gables. His wife is born in Hollywood, California.
