Having run over a notice for an open throwing call and going to her first trial, Rodriguez beat 350 different candidates to win her first part in the low-plan 2000 autonomous film Girlfight. With her execution as Diana Guzman, a harried teenager who chooses to channel her hostility via preparing to turn into a boxer, Rodriguez collected a few recompenses and assignments for the part in autonomous rounds, including real acting awards from the National Board of Review, Deauville Film Festival, Independent Spirit Awards, Gotham Awards, Las Vegas Film Critics Sierra Awards, and numerous others.
