Jose Miguel Cabrera Torres, known professionally as Miguel Cabrera and often nicknamed "Miggy," was born in 1983 in Maracay, Aragua State, Venezuela. He showed significant promise in baseball from a young age and eventually pursued a career in the sport with full support from his parents, Gregoria and Miguel Cabrera. His Venezuelan heritage remains an important part of his identity both personally and professionally.

Rise to Major League Baseball

Cabrera began his professional baseball career after signing a contract with the Florida Marlins and quickly advanced through the minor league system. At the age of 20, he made his Major League debut in 2003. That same year, he played a crucial role in the Marlins’ successful World Series run. Following four strong seasons with the Marlins, Cabrera was traded to the Detroit Tigers in 2007.

Career with the Detroit Tigers

Since joining the Detroit Tigers, Cabrera has become one of the most accomplished first basemen in Major League Baseball. Although he began his career playing both third and first base, as well as stints in left and right field during 2006, he eventually settled into first base as his primary position.

Throughout his career, Cabrera has been selected to the MLB All-Star Game 11 times. He earned the American League Most Valuable Player (AL MVP) Award twice, in 2012 and 2013. Additionally, he has been named the AL Batting Champion multiple times, recognizing his elite performance at the plate.
