Early Life and Education
Michael William Day was born on March 20, 1980, in Orange County, California. He attended Panorama Elementary School and later graduated from El Modena High School, where he was actively involved in the drama program and student government. During high school, he wrote comedic sketches for monthly assemblies and famously created a "Batman" theme for his homecoming event.
Day continued his studies at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he pursued a Bachelor’s Degree in Theater. He later trained with The Groundlings, a renowned improvisational and sketch comedy troupe based in Los Angeles.
The Groundlings and Early Comedy Work
While at The Groundlings, Day collaborated with Michael Naughton to co-write and star in the viral video "David Blaine Street Magic," a parody of illusionist David Blaine. The sketch, which featured actor Mitch Silpa as Blaine, gained widespread popularity after being uploaded to YouTube and became one of the platform’s most-watched comedy videos during its early years.
Television Career
Building on his improv background, Mikey Day went on to write for multiple television shows. He was a featured cast member on MTV’s improvisational comedy series Wild 'n Out, created and hosted by Nick Cannon. In 2009, Day also appeared in the Groundlings stage production "In The Study, With The Candlestick," where he portrayed various characters in a live performance setting.
