Early Entertainment Career and Comedy Beginnings

After high school, Cannon earned an opportunity to serve as a warm-up comedian for the studio audience at Nickelodeon in Los Angeles. He later joined a teen group focused on performing African American-centered comedic programs for local cable. This experience led him to explore behind-the-scenes roles, sparking his interest in production work. During his teen years, he also pursued music, particularly rapping, and was a member of the group "Da G4 Dope Bomb Squad." In 2001, he signed a deal with Jive Records and contributed the track "Parents Just Don't Understand"—a cover version of DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince's hit—for the Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius soundtrack.
