Early Life and Background

Armando Christian Pérez, known professionally as Pitbull, was born on January 15, 1981, in Miami, Florida, United States. He is of Cuban descent, as both of his parents were Cuban immigrants who sought refuge in the U.S. From an early age, Pitbull showed strong interests in music and literature. He enjoyed reading poetry, and his passion for Cuban culture led him to study and memorize works by notable Cuban poet and national hero José Martí. His parents took pride in hearing him recite Martí's poetry.

While growing up, Pitbull developed a love for Miami bass—a subgenre of hip-hop music popular in Miami. Artists like Celia Cruz and Willy Chirino were major influences on his musical development. Due to family complications, he was primarily raised by his mother, Alysha Acosta. His father, Armando Pérez, was largely absent during his childhood. For a period, Armando lived with a foster family in Roswell, Georgia.

During his adolescence, he briefly experimented with drugs, a phase he later left behind as he focused more heavily on his musical aspirations. Pitbull is also known by several nicknames, including Mr. 305, PitBULL, and Lil' Chico. He stands 1.7 meters tall and weighs approximately 77 kilograms.
