Education and Theatrical Training

Monica Raymund's involvement in the performing arts began early. During high school, she took part in the Broadway Theater Project based in Tampa, Florida. She later attended the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, further honing her acting skills. In 2004, she graduated from Shorecrest Preparatory School, a private college-preparatory day school. She continued her education at the prestigious Juilliard School in New York City, earning her degree in 2008. At Juilliard, Raymund performed in a variety of stage productions including Cymbeline, The Diviners, and Animal Farm, working under renowned directors such as Richard Feldman, Jonathan Bernstein, and Trizana Beverley.

Early Career and Television Debut

Monica Raymund began her professional acting career shortly after graduating. In April 2008, she made her television debut with a guest appearance on NBC's Law & Order: Special Victims Unit as Trini Martinez in the episode titled “Authority” (Season 9, Episode 17). Though the role was brief, it served as a valuable introduction to network television and opened the door to larger opportunities.

Breakthrough Role in "Lie to Me"

Raymund’s big break came when she was cast as Maria "Ria" Torres, a human lie detector, in the Fox crime drama series Lie to Me. Her portrayal of the intelligent and passionate character garnered widespread attention and resonated with audiences. She remained in the role from 2009 until the show's conclusion in January 2011, establishing her as a talented presence in television drama.
