Early Life and Introduction to Acting
Neil Patrick Harris was born on June 15, 1973, in Albuquerque, New Mexico, to Sheila and Ron Harris, both of whom were attorneys. From a young age, Harris showed a passion for the performing arts. He participated in high school productions, including The Wizard of Oz and various other musical plays, which helped cultivate his interest in acting.
At just 15 years old, Harris landed his first major role in the 1988 drama Clara's Heart, starring opposite Whoopi Goldberg. His performance earned him a Golden Globe nomination and opened the door to more opportunities in film and television.
Breakthrough with Doogie Howser, M.D.
