Born as Leonard Albert Kravitz, Lenny Kravitz is a popular singer songwriter and actor from America. He was born in 26th May 1964. Lenny is known for its retro songs that incorporates rock and RnB elements in his songs. Additionaly, he also plays drums, percussion, guitars and bass while recording his songs. The funky singer won Best Male Rock in Grammy Awards from 1999 to 2002. He set the record for a male singer who won in 4 consecutive years. He also has been nominated for other awards including MTV VMAs, BRIT awards, and American Music Awards.

Lenny was born in an artist family. his mother is Roxie Roker famous for her role in 70s sitcom the Jeffersons. His father is a Jewish from Ukraine. His cousin is a weather personality Al Roker. He was not growing in a religious family but when Lenny reached 13, he started to have a Christian faith. This was his first spiritual experience.

At the age of 3, little Lenny was often found in kitchen playing pans and pots pretending they were musical instruments. When he was 5, he deliberately said that he wanted to be a musician. He grew up in a family with high appreciation in music. He listened to Jazz, Opera, RnB and blues. His parents often took him to see musical performances and concerts including the Jackson 5. He said that his parents are very supportive even up to these days.

His father was a jazz promoter and known to befriend with Sarah Vaughan, Miles Davis, Count Basie and many other Jazz singers. Duke Ellington even sang a Happy Birthday song for Lenny when he was 1 year old. Many famous singers influence his style in music. And it was his mother who encouraged him to pursue a career in music.

Lenny joined California Boys Choir in 1974 and performed in Metropolitan Opera. He also took part in various stages including Hollywood Bowl. He was introduced to rock music in Los Angeles after having listened to Aerosmith, Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath. He also said that Bob Marley influenced his song writings too. In 1978, he attended a music program where in his class, there were Slash, Nicolas Cage and Maria McKee.

He made an establishment in popularity in 2001. He produced Madonna’s song, Justify My Love and he also wrote many songs for various artists. His explicit video in The Immaculate Collection created controversy but managed to be on top of the chart for 2 weeks. He also produced Vanessa Paradis self titled album while also released his 2nd Album, Mama Said.

Lenny Kravitz joined forces with Jennifer Lawrence in the Hunger Games, playing as Katniss stylist, Cinna. The first 2 sequels were massive and in 2014, he released his studio album that would be his 10th album. He also owned a studio recording, which he named it after his mother, Roxie Record.
