Morgan Deann Ortagus, born in 1983 in Polk County, Florida, is an American foreign policy and national security analyst. She is the daughter of Denise C. and Ronald E. Ortagus. Ortagus earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from Florida Southern College in 2005. She continued her education at Johns Hopkins University, where she obtained a Master of Arts in Government in 2009. In 2013, she earned a Master of Business Administration from Johns Hopkins University's Carey Business School.
Ortagus began her career by participating in political campaigns, including those of Katherine Harris and KT McFarland. She later served in the U.S. Department of the Treasury, focusing on intelligence and financial crimes. In 2014, Ortagus joined the U.S. Navy Reserve as an officer, further expanding her involvement in national security and defense.
In the private sector, she held key roles including as a director at Standard Chartered Bank, where she worked on global relationships and strategy, and as an Executive Director at Ernst & Young, focusing on geopolitical and strategic business consulting.
Ortagus is a co-chair of Maverick PAC, a political action committee made up of young conservative professionals. She also holds board positions with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation and the Friends of the American University of Afghanistan, both of which support military families and international education efforts, respectively.
