Early Life and Education

Myrna Colley-Lee is an American artist and philanthropist, born in 1941 in Hamlet, North Carolina. She earned a bachelor's degree in art education from the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina, now known as the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. Following her undergraduate studies, she pursued painting and properties at Brooklyn College in New York. In 1980, she completed a master's degree in scenic and costume design from Temple University in Philadelphia.

Marriage to Morgan Freeman

Colley-Lee gained public attention through her marriage to acclaimed actor Morgan Freeman, which began in 1984. The couple resided primarily in northern Mississippi, spending most of their time at Freeman’s home in Tallahatchie County. Throughout their marriage, they maintained a low-profile lifestyle, frequently distancing themselves from Hollywood's spotlight.
