Myrna Colley-Lee is an American artist and philanthropist who was born in 1941 in Hamlet, North Carolina. She graduated from the Woman's College of the University of North Carolina with a bachelor's degree in art education. She then went on to study painting and properties at Brooklyn College in New York. She also earned a master's degree in scenic and costume design from Temple University in Philadelphia in 1980. There is very little information about Colley-Lee's early life but it is known that she married American actor Morgan Freeman in 1984. The pair enjoyed a marriage that lasted over two decades but they eventually divorced in 2007. Colley-Lee and her husband lived a relatively peaceful life outside of the buzz of Hollywood.
They spent much of their time in Freeman's home in Tallahatchie County in northern Mississippi. The divorce proceedings took several years and were finally granted by a judge in 2010. Freeman's attorney, William R. Wright said in an interview, "It was done without a trial. Everybody is glad it’s over."
