In 2012, there was a nasty rumor that Natalie was caught having an affair with a married man, Matt Lauer of NBC. The two allegedly became close while covering the 2006 Winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. It was also rumored that Natalie was pregnant because of this rumored secret relationship. The whispers of infidelity suggested that it was  highly possible that Matt was the father of one of her children.

Everyone in the media talked about this cheating scandal although Matt and Natalie kept quiet about the issue. When asked about the relationship, Matt did not confirm or deny it. Due to this alleged relationship, Matt’s wife filed for a divorce but she later withdrew the paperwork. Matt’s spouse dropped her separation case, but stated that if Natalie gets to co-host a show with Matt, she would again file for the separation.According to reports, Matt and Natalie continued their secret relationship until Natalie got pregnant with her second son. The rumored relationship did not have any major impact in Natalie’s personal life. Joseph and Natalie now live a happy life with their two children after the rumors died. They currently reside in Brentwood, California, an affluent neighborhood in Los Angeles.

Joseph has never talked about his spouse, her secret boyfriend or any other details about the infidelity nor has Matt Lauer ever commented on any of the rumors about him fathering one of Natalie’s sons. There have been some claims that her second son looks exactly like Matt however, that does not prove conclusively that Mr. Lauer is the father. Later on, it was proven that the time of Matt and Natalie's alleged cheating and her second son's conception were many months apart. The implication and conclusion was that there is no chance that the second son is Matt’s.

This information about the cheating was never given to the public as it was information collected from a private source and Natalie has never commented on the rumors or the explanation. Matt has declined to talk about this relationship to anyone as well because he already has enough of his own problems to deal with. On the other side of the coin, Joseph was not known to have cheated on Natalie with any secret girlfriends. 

Natalie is not known to have had any other high profile relationships. Her former lovers have evaded the media which is a positive for Natalie. She has never answered or given attention to the assumptions that people have made about her personal life. She prefers to dodge questions that try to invade her privacy. NBC tried to make a big fuss out of it but all of the rumors went away after Matt and Natalie kept quiet about the issue.

With no concrete information from the affected parties, there is no definite evidence that Matt and Natalie parented a child nor that Natalie and Matt even had a romantic relationship. There was speculation that there were witnesses to the relationship, though there are no pictures or any other evidence to prove anything.
