Nicole Beharie was born on 3rd of January 1985 in the American state of Florida. She is a multifaceted personality with talents of song writing, singing and dancing. Raised in the West Palm Beach, Florida by her parents Nicole did her early schooling from the Orangeburg Wilkinson High School, South Carolina. She is the offspring of a Nigerian-Jamaican Couple. For higher studies she went to the South Carolina Governor’s School for Arts and Humanities. Art and acting were her fields of interest from the very childhood and this knack got her a place in a performing arts conservatory. She was one of the first students of her institute to get into the prestigious Julliard Drama School, New York City. There she perform with the Drama Division Group 36 for four long years i.e. from the year 2003 to 2007. Her mentors were able to bring the best out of her and she was able to grab the Shakespeare Scholarship to get the next level training in England. Currently, she is active on both movies and TV Shows.
The silver screen saw Nicole’s first presence in the year 2008 and she is actively engaged in the acting work since then. In 2008, she was seen in two movies, one playing the protagonist in ‘American Violet,’ and other as the Sarah Ward in the film ‘The Express,’ which was a sports film. Nicole has also been on television since her introduction to cinema world. It was in the year 2009 when she appeared in TV drama ‘Three Rivers’ and there was no looking back for her after that. One of her most appreciated roles was of Shay Hunter in the TV show ‘Sins of Mother,’ the series depicted struggles of a daughter to rebuild her relation with her mother and Nicole portrayed the character of daughter who is a student. Nicole has also been applauded for her offbeat roles in the feature film ‘Shame’ and ‘Apartment 4E.’ The film Shame featured Michael Fassbender in the lead role of a 30 year old sex addict and both of them got very well together both on-screen and off screen. After dating for a while, they married in the year 2013. Nicole continued to be a part of entertainment business after marriage and made guest appearances on TV shows like Bones, 42, Law & Order: Special Victims and The Good Wife. Her post marriage TV shows in a major role include ‘Sleepy Hollow,’ broadcast in 2013 to present and portrayal of a character called Margery Jolicoeur in the 2010-11 show ‘A Free Man of Colour.’
Nicole’s work as a song writer and singer has also been appreciated and loved by critics and fans. She did a commendable job of composing five number of songs for ‘My Last Days Wiithout You,’ a romantic comedy with Ken Duken in lead role.
Beharie till date has done few but quality work and to prove her diligence it could be brought into focus that she has eight nomination to her name including 2 for NAACP Image Awards and two for Black Reel Awards. .
