Who is P. K. Subban? 

P. K. Subban is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenseman who was born on May 13, 1989, in Toronto, Canada. He is the son of parents who both immigrated to Ontario from the Caribbean in the 1970s and his full name is Pernell-Karl Sylvester "P. K." Subban. He spent his early years being raised in Toronto's Rexdale neighborhood with four other siblings, two sisters, and two brothers. His junior career was spent with the Belleville Bulls of the Ontario Hockey League. Subban went on to be chosen in the 2007 NHL Entry Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. In May of 2009, Subban was signed to a three-year contract by the Montreal Canadiens. He later began the season with Montreal's American Hockey League affiliate the Hamilton Bulldogs. Subban was recalled on April 26, 2010, from Hamilton during the Canadiens' first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Washingon Capitals.

The Canadiens were eventually eliminated by the Flyers and Subban returned to the Bulldogs. Subban was awarded the AHL President's Award for his accomplishments at the end of the AHL Season. He won the Norris Trophy as the NHL's top defenseman in 2013 and in the summer of the following year he signed an eight-year, $72 million contract with the Canadiens which extends through the 2021 to 2022 season.
