Paul Murphy is an Irish politician who was born April 13, 1983, in Goatstown, Republic of Ireland. He spent his early years growing up in a suburb of Dublin and attending St. Kilian's German School in Clonskeagh. Murphy was born to his father, Kieran Murphy who was a senior manager at the Irish division of Mars. His family originally hails from Castlebar, County Mayo. Murphy considers himself an Irish Solidarity-People Before Profit politician.
He has been a Teachta Dala (TD) for the Dublin South-West constituency since Dublin's South-West by-election in 2014. Murphy is largely known for being a Member of the European Parliament for the Dublin constituency from 2011 to 2014. He appeared in a 2008 short film which described him as an activist for the Socialist Party and followed his role in protests against cutbacks at Tallaght Hospital. Murphy's political ideals are mostly grounded in socialism which was re-branded as "Solidarity" in 2017.
