Following his service in the European Parliament, Murphy won a seat in Dáil Éireann (the lower house of the Irish parliament) during the Dublin South-West by-election in 2014. He has continued to serve as a Teachta Dála (TD) for this constituency since then.
Initially affiliated with the Socialist Party, Murphy later became a part of a broader political movement that eventually rebranded as Solidarity in 2017. He is currently a member of the political alliance known as Solidarity–People Before Profit, which promotes a left-wing, socialist policy platform focused on social equality, economic justice, and environmental sustainability.
Murphy maintains a relatively private personal life. While he is frequently asked about his marital status, there is no public record confirming whether he is married. His public persona primarily focuses on his political activism and work as a legislator rather than personal disclosures.
