Javaheri spent his early childhood in Tehran, where he was born in the year 1983 on 24 May. At the age of 10, his family moved to Washington where he finished his high school studies. He has completed bachelor degrees in Broadcast journalism and Meteorology. He studied at the Mississippi State University where he received a degree in Broadcast Meteorology and also at the Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism. He is fluent in three languages namely Persian, Turkish, and English.
Profession
Javaheri started his career as weather anchor in the year 2002 at the Arizona State University. He was instrumental in developing the first department of weather at the in-school new program, NewsWatch TV which was broadcast all over the state of Arizona. He then started working for KCSG in Utah after his graduation. He was made the chief meteorologist at the station and was in charge of supervising all weather operations. He later served as weather presenter at duopoly station in Central Coast of California for KKFX, KCBA, KION, and KCOY. He was the environmental reporter as well as meteorologist there. He began his career in CNN in the year 2010 and is based in Atlanta now. He is seen in the shows ‘World Report’ and ‘World Business Today’. He also fills in at the show Morning Express with Robin Meade in HLN. He also covers the weather report and breaking news at CNN U.S.
Awards
While working in California, Javaheri was honored with an Emmy nomination for the outstanding achievement in weather and he was honored as the Iranian of the Day in the year 2010. His team at CNN won the Peabody award for the oil spill coverage in Gulf of Mexico in the year 2010.
Javaheri has done some phenomenal reporting and coverage of weather and environmental issues globally. His reporting included the 2008 Big Sur fires in Basin Complex, which is supposed to be the most expensive wildfire in the history of United States. He was also the only journalist to report on the Memorial service of Michael Jackson in Staples Centre. In the year 2011, Javaheri and his colleague Chad Myers were the first meteorologist duo to forecast and report on the far reaching impact of a possible tsunami attack to the international audience.
