As his biography reveals, Ty initially pursued a degree in Art & History at the Kennesaw College. However, it was on the advice of his professor & his desire of wanting to learn design, he was transferred to Atlanta College of Art. He took up carpentry jobs to pay for his college, which helped to hone his skills. Later he found work as a Model & traveled places. He first appeared in TV commercials of Levi’s & Coke & modeled for brands like Swatch, Macy’s, Body Glove, J. Crew etc. During 1995, he helped in the construction of the set of the flick Leaving Las Vegas, which sparked the Carpenter & the Designer Artist in him. This led him to buy an old factory with the help of his brother & renovating it into a loft-style apartment within a limited budget. His remarkable feat included decorative & creative touches like using the plunger as a fixture for light & salad bowl as a sink.

In 2000, pursuing his passion, Ty joined Trading Houses, a lifestyle show on BBC. The program consisted of 2 teams, vying to make an interior project within a limited budget in a two-day time limit. Each team had a professional designer & carpenter. Ty was one of the carpenters for the show. The show, along with Ty became an instant hit. Ty had a huge fan following especially among females. His goofy & comic capers, bare-chested handsome looks were thoroughly enjoyed by the female viewers of the show. His success helped me to travel around the world, making TV appearances on various lifestyle shows. People, especially females would throng in queues to meet their handsome star carpenter & designer. The magazine People named him as one of its Top 50 Bachelors in 2002.

In 2003, Ty launched his first book with Hyperion called Ty’s Tricks: Home Repair Secrets Plus Cheap & Easy Projects to Transform Any Room, which was instant hit & a New York Times Bestseller. Later that year, Ty signed up with Sears as their spokesperson & acted in their ads as the Brand Ambassador. In 2004, Ty left Trading Houses to start his own show with ABC TV Network called Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, which would give a well-deserving family a dream makeover to their house. The theme of the show was to send the family for a week-long vacation while Ty & his team worked on to renovate the house in the best possible & efficient way. He published his magazine titles Ty Pennington at Home & his second book in 2008 titled How Good Design Can Change Your Life. Ty is yet to get married but is in a relationship with his girlfriend cum Manager Andrea Bock. So no signs of a wife for the Bachelor, whose net worth is estimated at $10 Million.
