Peter Kay is a famous comedian in UK and an actor. He has a stand up tour that was in inaugurated into Guinness World Records to be one of the most successful ones, were reportedly, more than 1.2 million attended. He has written, acted and produced many award winning film projects and television. His autobiography: The Sound of Laughter, is among the bestselling books up to now. According to his bio, his countrywide popularity begun when he first won the North West Comedian of the Year award, in 1996. The Sound of Laughter, is among the bestselling books up to now.
Peter Kay was born in Lancashire and attended classes at the St Joseph High school, from where he got his GCSE in art. He worked in many jobs like Bingo hall, Cash and Carry, Netto supermarket and toilet roll factory. He did some courses at the University of Liverpool but dropped out because he got an offer to do HND (High National Diploma) without any condition at the University of Salford. He attended the school media, music with performance and the studies involved the standup course and as you can imagine, he excelled on the field from the very beginning.
Peter has an honest and easy going style which is not found in many comedians. He does not swear while on the stage and most of the time, his mum and aunts are blended with the audience which means that he has to be careful of what he says. While performing, he is full of energy with enthusiasm which makes him seem he’s at the perfect place, the perfect time, doing exactly what he wants to do and what he’s good at doing. At this point it is worth noting that Sia Gibson went to the same University and became famous thanks to Peter. "I was just sick of going to auditions for parts which were three lines. You know, 'That's £1.99 please, love'. I've got a mortgage to pay. I was doing rubbish jobs and it was soul-destroying. There's only so long you can go on," she says.
By the time she quit, it had been over a year since her last audition. "It had just run its course and I was getting on with my life as it was. I wasn't waiting for the phone to ring – it had gone past that." All that changed with an email from Peter, concerning a sitcom about two supermarket workers sharing the drive to work. And the rest is known, more or less.Other awards he has won come from Royal Television Society and Montreux Television Festival. He has featured in many movies the most popular of which is ‘Wallace and Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit Coronation Street.’
