Puff Daddy

Puff Daddy was born as Sean John Combs on November 4, 1969. He is an American rapper, actor, and businessman. He is also a record producer known by the stage names, Puff Daddy, Puffy, P.Diddy, and Diddy. He was born in Harlem, New York City and grew up in Mount Vernon, New York City. His father was shot dead when he was a child. His mother was a teacher’s assistant and a model. He has a son from his high school girlfriend.

Education

He graduated from Mount Saint Michael Academy, New York City, in 1987. After graduating from high school, he proceeded to Howard University. He dropped out of the University after spending two years there to pursue his career.

Career

His career is multi-dimensional. As a musician, he has a lot of records to his name. One of his records, No Way Out, was a commercial success. The album has five singles which include I’ll Be Missing You. This single was a tribute to his friend, Notorious B.I.G, who was assassinated on March 9, 1997. I’ll Be Missing You was so successful that it debuted at number on in a musical list of Hot 100. For eleven consecutive weeks, the single remained at number one. That was the first time that a rap single will have such a record of success.

He was nominated five times for Grammy Awards for that album. He eventually won a Grammy Awards that year. The album had a combined sale of over seven million copies worldwide. He has a successful music career. His songs got him three Grammy Awards.

In 2001, he changed his stage name from Puff Daddy to P. Diddy. In that same year, he starred in two movies, Made and Monster’s Ball. In the latter movie, he acted along Bill Bob Thornton and Hale Berry.

In 2010, he created a group that was purely for rap music. This gave him the opportunity to develop talents like Busta Rhymes, Fabolous, Red Café, Rick Ross, Fat Joe, and DJ Khaled. This shows the other side of his career as a music producer.

As a business person, he started a clothing line in 1998. The clothing line, Sean John, was nominated for an award in 2000. Four years later, the clothing line won the designer award.

In 2008, he added a perfume for men to his brand. He dedicated the fragrance notable people like Barack Obama, Martin Luther King, and Muhammad Ali.

He bought Enyce, another clothing line, from Liz Claiborne for $20 million in 2008. He also has shares in some companies like Aquahydrate, a beverage for athletes that contains no calorie, and Revolt TV, a television station that is also into the production of film.

With his chains of businesses and career in music and acting, the rich entertainer who is not married but has six children has a whopping net worth of about $750 million.

Personal life

He has six kids; five of them are his biological children, while he adopted Quincy Brown. His children are his family. He married Kimberly Potter, but the marriage did not last as the couple eventually settled for divorce.
