Rebecca was born in 1971 in Kentucky. Her mother, Floneva worked as a beauty consultant and her father Curtis Gayheart was a miner and occasional coal truck driver. She has a German, Irish and Italian descent. She came to New York City when she was 15 years old, as a student.

She married Eric Dane, an actor in 2004. She dated him for ten months before getting married. She has two children with him. She is not known to had been married before Eric. She was engaged to Brett Ratner, director for a few months before being engaged to Eric. She starred in his movies during her initial career phase. There are no details to why that engagement fell off. There are no details to whom she dated between Ratner and Dane. She was never a part of any affair rumor. In 2009, a nude video of Kari Ann Penich, Miss Teen USA, Rebecca and her husband was posted in a website causing a lot of rumors and stories. There are no rumors about separation or divorce. She once quoted that she loves being married than anyone else and her husband is perfect for her.

Career

Her first movie was Brett Ratner’s short film, Whatever Happened to Mason Reese, which was released in 1990. She also appeared in his music video. She took up a few commercial advertisement projects for TV which gained her popularity. In 1992, she took a major role in a soap opera, Loving. In the next few years, she got a lot of recurring roles and also many film roles. She took up both TV and film roles with passion. In 2002, she was hired for the role of Inara Serra in Firefly. However, she was replaced with Morena Baccarin after one day of shooting scenes. The director said that it was due to lack of chemistry between her and others. Her net worth is 5 million dollars.

Manslaughter

Rebecca was accused of killing a nine-year-old boy, Jorge Cruz. In 2001, Rebecca was driving a vehicle which hit a small boy who was walking in a street in Los Angeles. He died on the next day due to the wounds from the accident. Five months later, she was found guilty. She was given three years of probation, 750 hours of community service and $2,800 fine along with one-year suspension of her driving license.

It was stated that she was driving her friend’s ’96 Jeep and struck Jorge Cruz who was jaywalking across the street. Many cars stopped for him on his way but, Rebecca swerved around the traffic and hit the boy. She was interviewed by police in the scene of the accident but was not arrested as she was not under the influence of any drugs. She had to pay for the hospital expenses and funeral expenses of the boy and also grief counseling of the boy’s parents.
