Morena Baccarin

Baccarin moved to the United States at a young age and was raised in New York City. She attended PS 41 and later the New York City Lab School for Collaborative Studies, where she was schoolmates with future Homeland co-star Claire Danes. She continued her arts education at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts. Following high school, Baccarin was accepted into the prestigious Juilliard School, where she studied theater as part of the Drama Division's Group 29 (1996–2000).

Acting Career

Baccarin gained widespread recognition for her role as Inara Serra in the cult science fiction series Firefly (2002), created by Joss Whedon. Although the show was short-lived, it developed a dedicated fan base and helped launch her career. She reprised her role in the 2005 film Serenity, a continuation of the series.

She later earned critical acclaim for her portrayal of Jessica Brody in the Showtime political-thriller series Homeland, which ran from 2011 to 2013. For her performance, she received a nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series at the 2013 Primetime Emmy Awards.

In 2015, Baccarin joined the cast of the Fox television series Gotham, where she played Dr. Leslie Thompkins. It was on the set of this show that she met actor Ben McKenzie, who would later become her husband.

Personal Life and Family

Morena Baccarin has two children. Her first child, a son named Julius Chick, was born during her first marriage. That marriage ended in divorce in 2013. She later had a daughter, Frances Laiz Setta Schenkkan, with Ben McKenzie. The couple married in June 2017 in Brooklyn, New York.

Baccarin has remained active in her career while balancing family life. She continues to be recognized for her work in television and film, maintaining a presence in the entertainment industry with roles that highlight her versatility and talent.
