Career

Rebecca Rose Lobo-Rushin is a basketball analyst and a former center position player in WNBA. She was born in Connecticut and played high school basketball. Her father was a basketball coach and she had the record of scoring the highest points in high school basketball in her state for 18 years. She played college basketball too. She was named as the sportswoman of the year in 1995. She played for Olympics in 1996. In 1997, she was assigned to New York Liberty. In 2002 she was traded to Connecticut Sun and she played just two seasons and retired. Her height of 6’4’’ helped to grow up in her career. She then took up the reporter and color analyst job in ESPN and is still a part of the channel as a sports reporter.

Personal life

In 2003, she married Steve Rushin, Sports Illustrated writer and changed her last name to Lobo-Rushin. Steve and Rebecca have four children. She gave birth to her fourth child when she was 40 years of age. Rebecca met her husband in a bar in Manhattan for the first time in 2001. She mocked him for commenting about women’s basketball match, without actually having seen one. She also invited him to watch a game with her. That was their first date. He was her boyfriend for 23 months, before their tied the knot. Her marriage life is very smooth without any problems or known rumors of marital problems. She and Steve have a strong bond of love and friendship, which has kept their relationship strong.

Before her marriage, she went out with a couple of men, but those did not last long. The most commonly talked relationship she had is with Keith Olbermann when he worked in ESPN, while she was in WNBA. She dated Keith Olbermann for a few months. Since it didn’t go forward, the relationship died off. Rebecca has not mentioned about her relationship with Keith or the reason for ending it to the public.  Neither has Keith talked about their relationship on air. These stories were told by people who worked with Keith in ESPN. Till today, Keith and Lobo have kept this issue off the record.

As of 2014, her net worth is $1.5 million. She was not ready to disclose her salary details to public. She always kept her family and her personal life out of the media radar. She avoided gossips and other stories around her.

She also wrote a book about her mother and her battle with breast cancer. She was the spokesperson for Lee National Denim Day fund raising which raised many millions of dollars for breast cancer research. She also campaigned for knee injury risk in woman and other medical problems.
