Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon was born on March 22, 1976, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The little girl of a doctor and a medical caretaker, Witherspoon experienced childhood in Nashville, Tennessee, where she was a debutante and went to Harpeth Hall, a private all-young ladies high school. On somewhat of an impulse in 1991, Witherspoon addressed a casting call for extras. She ended up with the lead in her first feature film, The Man in the Moon (1991), at only 14 years of age. Her first year out of high school, Witherspoon considered forsaking acting to follow her folks into the medical field. Things changed in 1996 when her performance in the film Freeway earned her the Catalonian International Film Festival award for best actress. She left school for a year to concentrate on acting, she had been studying English writing at Stanford University.
In 2001, Witherspoon had a huge break when featured in the unexpected film industry hit Legally Blonde. Witherspoon played Elle Woods, a sorority girl who pursues her ex to Harvard Law School. The motion picture proved to be such a triumph, that it produced a sequel. Witherspoon featured in, and produced, Legally Blonde 2: Red, White and Blonde (2003), procuring $15 million which was much more than what she was paid for the first.
In July 2019, fans of her show, Big Little Lies started an online movement to demand a third season of the popular program.
Reese is currently married to American Agent Jim Toth. They tied the knot on March 26, 2011. The couple is living a pleasant married life and they have been honored with one child named Tennessee James.
Before Jim, she was married to Ryan Phillippe. They exchanged vows on June 5, 1999 but their married relationship couldn't last a decade. They eventually got separated on June 13, 2008. From her first marriage, she has been honored with two children, Ava Phillippe and Deacon Reese Phillippe.
