Breakthrough and Musical Comedy Albums

Carrington rose to prominence in the late 1990s with the release of his debut album, Hangin' with Rodney, in 1998. He gained a strong following through his distinctive blend of stand-up and original songs. Over the years, he released nine major-label comedy albums, most of them under Capitol Records, selling millions of copies worldwide. His album Morning Wood achieved Gold certification by the RIAA. Other notable works include El Niño Loco, Laughter’s Good, and C’mon Laugh You Bastards.

According to Pollstar, Carrington has consistently ranked among the top ten highest-grossing touring comedians over the past decade and has maintained a position within the top four or five in recent years.

Television and Film Career

In addition to music and stand-up comedy, Carrington expanded into acting. He starred in the self-titled sitcom Rodney, which aired on ABC from 2004 to 2006. He also appeared in the 2008 movie Beer for My Horses, alongside Toby Keith. Both projects contributed to his national visibility and broadened his fan base.

Personal Life and Divorce

Carrington married his wife Terri in the early 1990s, and the couple were together for 18 years before divorcing in 2012. He has publicly acknowledged that he tried to salvage the marriage but ultimately accepted Terri’s decision to separate. Following the divorce, Carrington began referencing his experiences through humor in his performances. Despite no longer communicating directly, the former couple remain actively involved in their children’s lives.

Rodney has described his children as “the funniest people on earth,” often drawing comedic inspiration from their interactions. Terri has remained largely out of the public eye and has not discussed their separation publicly, fitting with her historically low media profile.
