The “Me Too” Movement and Investigative Journalism

Ronan Farrow rose to prominence in 2017 through a series of investigative articles published in The New Yorker that exposed sexual misconduct allegations against film producer Harvey Weinstein. These reports were instrumental in amplifying the “Me Too” movement and earned Farrow, along with fellow journalists Jodi Kantor and Megan Twohey of The New York Times, the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service.

Farrow continued his investigative work with reports on other powerful figures, including former New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman and CBS executive Les Moonves. These exposés contributed to heightened public scrutiny and led to the resignation or removal of the individuals involved.

In an interview with The Guardian, Farrow explained the broader implications of his reporting: “It’s not stories plural, it’s all one big story. You’re looking at the very same systems of power and the abuse of power, and the suppression of stories that are employed by powerful men in Hollywood and powerful people in politics.” His work emphasized patterns of systemic abuse and institutional protection of abusers across multiple industries.

Writing Career and Thought Leadership

In 2018, Farrow authored a critically acclaimed book titled War on Peace: The End of Diplomacy and the Decline of American Influence. The 400-page volume details his experiences working under diplomat Richard Holbrooke and examines the U.S. government’s increasing reliance on military solutions over diplomacy. The book argues that the erosion of the State Department and other diplomatic channels has led to diminished global influence and unstable international relations.

Through both his investigative journalism and published work, Ronan Farrow has positioned himself as a leading voice on issues related to power, accountability, and the decline of institutional integrity in both politics and entertainment.
