Ronan Farrow Background

Satchel Ronan O'Sullivan Farrow was born on December 19, 1987 in New York City, U.S. He was the only biological child of two very famous players in the film industry. His father, Woody Allen is one of the most famous directors in cinema history. His mother, Mia Farrow is a child of Hollywood royalty, the ex-wife of legendary musician Frank Sinatra, and also the star of many movies.

Ronan Farrow Family

When he was just five years old, Ronan had witnessed his parents’ bitter break-up, his father’s odd relationship with his sister, Soon-Yi who was adopted by his parents. The relationship was always a nasty mark on Woody Allen’s career. He had raised Soon-Yi as his daughter when she was just a little girl. When she became a woman, he entered into a romantic relationship with her. People started to speculate that their love affair had started much earlier than when it went public. Many of Woody’s fans could no longer support him because they felt that he had manipulated the young girl when she was very vulnerable.

There were also claims that Woody had sexually abused Rona’s seven-year-old adopted sister Dylan Farrow.  There was a lot of turmoil in his earl life but that didn’t stop him from trying to succeed. He was enrolled in Yale by the time he was 16 years old. He traveled the world with his mom to spread good fortune to those who needed it. He wanted to get away from the shadow of his father as much as possible.

Me Too Movement

Farrow's articles in The New Yorker were the keys to uncover the Harvey Weinstein sexual abuse allegations in 2017. The New Yorker won the 2018 Pulitzer Prize for Public Service because of Ronan’s contributions. His investigative pieces exposed similar sexual abuse allegations against public figures Eric Schneiderman and Les Moonves, which led to their resignations.

In an interview The Guardian, Ronan was asked if all the isolated stories of sexual abuse committed by powerful men were all linked together,  “I was in a briefing with a number of reporters and a source recently. And one of the journalists present said: It’s not stories plural, it’s all one big story. And I think there’s some truth to that. With respect to the reporting I’ve been doing specifically, you’re looking at the very same systems of power and the abuse of power and the suppression of stories that are employed by powerful men in Hollywood and powerful people in politics.”
