Background

Rose Arianna McGowan was born on September 5, 1973 in Florence, Tuscany, Italy, to American guardians Terri and Daniel Patrick McGowan. She is the second oldest of six siblings, and has Irish, French, and English heritage. As a youthful girl, she was raised in the Italian chapter of the Children of God. During the mid-1980s, her family separated ties with the religious network and moved to Eugene, Oregon, USA.

Career

After her film debut in a brief role in the comedy Encino Man, Rose McGowan achieved wider recognition for her performance in Gregg Araki's dark comedy The Doom Generation. For her work on the film, she was happy to receive an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance.

Since the age of nineteen, she has appeared in may acclaimed movies by great directors like Wes Craven, Brian De Palma, Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino. In 2014, her directorial debut Dawn was designated for the Short Film Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival.
