Ruth Connell is a Scottish actress and former professional dancer known for her work in theater, film, and television. She was born on April 20, 1979, in Falkirk, Scotland. Her father worked as a football coach and manager, and her mother was a schoolteacher.
At a young age, Connell was accepted into the Scottish Ballet’s Vocational Dance Scheme, where she later performed the lead role in their production of The Nutcracker. During her teenage years, she earned recognition as both the Scottish Junior and Scottish Senior Ballet Champion. After a successful stint as a professional dancer, she pursued formal acting training at the Rose Bruford College of Theatre & Performance, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Acting.
In 2004, Connell was cast in the lead role of Grusha in Bertolt Brecht’s The Caucasian Chalk Circle. She continued her stage career in 2006, touring the United Kingdom with the Oxford Stage Company (now Headlong) in the role of Isa in the play Men Should Weep.
Connell made her television debut in 2009 in the ITV comedy-drama Above Their Station. In 2011, she relocated to the United States to further pursue her acting career. Since moving to America, she has appeared in several independent films, including Folklore (2012), Meth Head (2013), Hara Kiri (2016), and The Cursed Man (2016).
